In 2022, NFT platform OneOf partnered with the Grammy’s to release a series of NFTs for the 64th & 65th Annual Grammy Awards. 8th Frame was hired to come up with the creative and develop the animations. We came up with a concept where the trophy would switch between “radio stations” and with each switch, we would fundamentally rethink the trophy’s appearance and environment.

Additionally we created a short social promo and free giveaway NFT tickets for anyone attending the Grammys.

For Disney’s sales meeting we were tasked with recreating a 3D virtual set based on the Wandavision living room across four decades. Additionally we created TV stacks in environments based on 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s decor.

For Advertising Week’s educational online platform, we developed templates for chapter titles, subchapter titles, lower thirds, informational pop-ups, and bulleted lists to be used across the entire series. We also developed a short and long opening title sequence to kick off each episode.

For the Loeb’s 2021 Award Ceremony, 8th Frame created an opening video focusing on the “tools of the trade” — all the elements of business journalism (pens, typewriters, cameras, etc). Because this was the second year in a row, that the usual Gala-like live event was disappointingly forced to go virtual, we really wanted to go with a bright, color, positive, and high-energy approach to the looks we developed.

Tilt, a live streaming platform for musicians, asked 8th Frame to create some holding loops that could play while audiences waited for a live stream to start. The request was that the videos should loop and not be too aggressive. So we developed two hypnotic abstract loops in both an abstract colored space, and 3D environments, almost as if they were little surreal centerpieces someone would have in the house.

For the American Geophysical Union’s 2021 Conference, we created five opening videos, each tailored to the theme of each day of the event. Day 1 - Science is Society, Day 2 - Solution Science, Day 3 - Anthropocene, Day 4 - Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity, Day 5 - Community Science.

Internally, our favorite of the five, featured here at left, was the abstract narrative we developed for Day 3 (Anthropocene) which visualizes the tension between humankind and its impact on nature.

For Simmons’ 2021 Leadership Conference we took inspiration from the simplified shapes of their updated logo and created an alphabet inspired by it. We then brought all those shapes to life individually to spell out of the names of the various presenters who would be at the conference.

We did two projects for Social Chorus in 2021. The first a video showing off the latest capabilities of their new messaging platform, the second a series of opening videos for their Attune events. For those, we built off their existing Attune brand look with simple 2D “resonance” shapes and reconceived of them in 3D, taking the look into a really exciting new direction without straying from the brand identity.

The theme for NAR’s 2020 Annual Conference was “Find Your R.” It played on the idea that everyone has an “R” that helps define them, make them whole (rest, relaxation, reinvigoration, etc.) So we expanded that idea, searching the entirety of New York City for any R’s we might find. Over the course of 3 days we took approximately 1000 photos and videos which we cut together into the opening video.

Once NAR’s mid-year conference was moved online, we decided it was an opportunity to lean into the virtual aesthetic rather than try to gloss over it. We developed a Zoom-inspired opening video to kick off the conference with the idea of showing ways in which we could still connect across social distancing. Additionally we created lower thirds, “up next” loops, lower thirds, lower banners, walk in loops, content graphics, and a second more motion graphics focused opening video.

For Simmons 2020 Leadership conference, we wanted to come up with visual ideas that could communicate something about the speakers while only using simple shapes. The Loeb Awards celebrates excellence in business journalism, so we wanted to really highlight the integration of journalism with the city itself. We came up with a concept where we projected some of the nominated articles onto buildings themselves, almost as if the words were directly integrated into the architecture and fabric of the city. We wanted to create the impression that journalism both builds up and is grown from the foundations that make our communities.

For the Madison Avenue Walk of Fame Icon Awards in 2018, 8th Frame celebrated history’s most famous advertising icons by creating animated character design sheets detailing the little things that make each icon so memorable.

For MOMI’s virtual premiere of Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom we created branded logo heads, transitions, and lower thirds for their post-premiere talkback. We wanted to design the animations around the idea of moving images, so for the logo heads we created an effect of a projector ramping up to full speed and stills moving into seamless motion. For the segment template we created a VHS rewinding animation to draw on the digital side of moving imagery.
